Beard trim guide: what to ask for

A good beard trim is shape, lines and a clean neckline — not just “take a bit off”. Here’s how to brief your barber.

A beard trim is mostly about edges and shape. The length is the easy part; the lines are what make it look intentional instead of overgrown.

The three lines that matter

  • Cheek line — natural (follow your growth) or defined (cleaned up straight).
  • Neckline — the big one. Two fingers above the Adam’s apple, curved, is the safe default.
  • Moustache — blended into the beard or kept separate.

Keeping it sharp at home

Brush daily, use a beard oil to stop the itch and flakes, and resist trimming your own neckline too high (the most common self-inflicted beard mistake). Come in every 2–4 weeks for the shape.

Yes — the beard trim is a standalone 15-minute service. Or book a hair + beard combo to do both at once.
