Timing your haircut before a wedding

The single most common grooming mistake before a wedding is timing. Here’s when to get cut so it looks its best on the day.

A fresh-off-the-clippers cut can look a touch too sharp in photos that last forever. You want the cut to have “settled” — a few days of growth so it sits naturally.

The timing rule

  • Short / faded styles: cut 3–5 days before. The fade softens just enough.
  • Longer / styled looks: cut 5–7 days before so it falls naturally.
  • Do a “test cut” a month out if you’re trying a new style — never experiment on the week of.

Group bookings

Getting the groom and groomsmen done together makes the morning easy. We can plan a wedding-morning slot — get in touch ahead of time so we can line up the chairs.
